Intern 1: …I’ve never seen anything like this. What is it?
Coworker: I… I don’t know. It looks like some kind of fiber optic cable, but it’s attached to two metallic probes. Maybe it’s for continuity testing?
Intern 2: Yeah, but the ends are sealed — could there be something that translates electricity to light inside the probe itself?
Coworker: I have no idea… I’ve never seen anything like this — hey Eric? What are these?
Intern 1: Yeah, they look really cool.
Me: …those are my wife’s circular knitting needles, guys.
Coworker (after long pause): …so they’re used for fiber manipulation and configuration then? Cool.
